Dubai firm to build top hotel, houses in Harare

Business Reporter

LEVA Hotels & Residences, a world-leading hospitality and real estate company, is making its foray into Africa with the construction of a housing project in Newlands, Zimbabwe’s low-density suburb, as well as a four-star hotel in Mt Pleasant.

The housing project in Newlands will consist of 120 units of modern, eco-friendly living spaces that prioritise comfort and sustainability, the company said in a statement.

The four-star LEVA Hotel will provide guests with world-class hospitality experiences in a stylish and contemporary setting, according to the company. These projects represent a significant investment in the country’s hospitality and real estate sectors. Both projects are expected to be completed in the next two years.

“We are excited to unveil the LEVA Hotel Residences, a 120-unit project set to transform the landscape of the Newlands suburb,” LEVA said. “This development aligns to our vision of modern eco-friendly living places that prioritize comfort and sustainability.

“In addition to Leva Hotels residences, we are embarking on the construction of a four-star Leva Hotel in Mt Pleasant suburb. This project reflects our dedication to providing world-class hospitality experiences in harmony with the local community.”

LEVA Hotels & Residences is a leading hospitality and real estate company with a portfolio of hotels, residences, and resorts in key destinations around the world.

The projects will be implemented in partnership with Troika Design Workshop, a local consulting firm involved in architecture, quantity surveying and engineering.

The company, which started operations in 2015, has been involved in several high-profile projects in Harare.

The other partner is Turnbury Property Developers, a real estate development company.

Turnbury Property Developers was founded in 2019 as a spin-off of Troika Design Workshop. The company was established to separate construction contracts and property development from the core consulting business of Troika Design Workshop.

This separation allows for a more focused approach to each area of expertise and enables Turnbury Property Developers to provide its clients with the highest level of service.

“We are proud to collaborate with esteemed partners who shares our values and vision for excellence. Together, we aim to set new standards in hospitality and urban living,” LEVA said.

Zimbabwe is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for property investors. Foreign investors are also attracted to Zimbabwe’s improving economic outlook and the potential for capital appreciation, according to analysts.

FlyNamibia adds Zimbabwe route

FlyNamibia has announced it will, from April next year, launch flights between Windhoek and Victoria Falls to operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Victoria Falls International Airport.

The new route is a key element in Zimbabwe’s regional network expansion strategy, FlyNamibia managing director Andre Compion said.

It will also enhance regional connectivity, promote tourism within Namibia and position Windhoek as an alternative gateway to the region.

FlyNamibia’s partnership with Airlink will give it access to the GDS, which will allow it to promote its new flights and packages to markets that were previously beyond reach. The airline is also planning to unveil new routes to Botswana and Angola in the future.

The new flights will effectively more than triple FlyNamibia’s current schedule of regional flights. Compion also revealed that the airline was entering the final phase of preparations for the introduction of flights to Luanda, Angola.

FlyNamibia is a Namibian private airline that mostly plies domestic routes from Eros Airport in Windhoek to Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Lüderitz, and Oranjemund.

The airline also has a regional route between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Cape Town International Airport. The airline recently became a member of IATA.

This membership will give FlyNamibia access to a number of benefits, including global recognition and acceptance, access to IATA’s global network of airlines and travel agents, and support with marketing and sales.— Business Weekly
